This engagement offers the opportunity to work alongside IT leadership and technical subject-matter experts to create standardized documentation, recovery procedures, system documentation, and process diagrams that become the foundation for ongoing IT operationsWhat You'll DoDevelop and maintain professional technical documentation using standardized templates and documentation standards. Create SOPs, runbooks, operational procedures, system documentation, infrastructure documentation, and knowledge base articles. Produce incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, restoration, and recovery documentation. Translate technical interviews and discovery sessions into clear, accurate, and maintainable documentation. Create workflows, process maps, technical diagrams, and supporting visuals using Microsoft Visio. Utilize Microsoft 365 tools including Word, SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and related collaboration tools. Apply consistent version control, formatting, metadata, ownership, review cycles, and documentation governance. Collaborate with business analysts, IT leadership, and technical SMEs to validate technical accuracy and prepare documentation for publication. Help establish reusable templates, documentation standards, repository structures, and lifecycle practices. Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field OR equivalent relevant professional experience. 5+ years of demonstrated technical writing experience within complex IT or technology environments. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365, especially Word and SharePoint, plus Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and related collaboration tools. Strong Microsoft Visio skills for technical diagrams, workflows, and process maps. Experience producing SOPs, runbooks, system documentation, operational procedures, knowledge articles, or similar technical documentation. Strong editing, information architecture, document organization, formatting, and quality control skills. Ability to collaborate directly with technical subject-matter experts across infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, service delivery, or related IT disciplines. Preferred QualificationsExperience documenting cybersecurity, infrastructure, incident response, disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service management. Documentation recovery, knowledge management, or documentation standardization experience. Experience administering SharePoint documentation libraries, templates, metadata, and lifecycle practices. Familiarity with ITIL, NIST, CIS, or similar IT/security frameworks. Government or other highly regulated environment experience.
