Position Summary
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality learning experiences that support role development, technical skill building, safety/compliance, policy adherence, project management capability, and onboarding. Focus on clear sequencing, practical deliverables, multi-modal delivery (with strong emphasis on e-learning), and measurable learner outcomes that work for both field and office audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct learning needs assessments to identify performance gaps, audience requirements, and the most effective instructional approaches.
- Partner with field and office subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content, validate technical accuracy, and translate real-world knowledge into effective learning.
- Design well-sequenced learning paths and curricula that support progressive role development and skill building.
- Design and facilitate cohort-based learning programs that support peer interaction, applied practice, and progressive skill development.
- Develop e-learning courses with a primary focus on Articulate Rise, supported by video development (Camtasia and similar tools) and visual assets in Canva.
- Develop complete instructor-led and blended course packages including facilitator scripts, presentation materials, participant guides, knowledge checks, and assessments.
- Design courses that incorporate in-person elements and observational assessment components.
- Apply structured instructional design models to create sequenced learning experiences that move learners from awareness to competent application.
- Incorporate formative and summative assessment strategies, including knowledge checks, observational evaluations, and performance-based assessments.
- Produce performance support materials such as job aids, quick-reference guides, and checklists.
- Design and package consistent branded content suites for multiple delivery methods (self-paced e-learning, virtual instructor-led, in-person, blended, and on-the-job support).
- Build and maintain content strategy for the LMS, including structured build-out of learning pathways and resources across multiple departments.
- Manage the full content lifecycle in the LMS: upload, organize, tag, update, and retire materials with attention to version control and usability.
- Participate in reporting strategy related to learner engagement, course completions, and learner feedback to inform continuous improvement.
- Analyze learner engagement, completion, and feedback data to refine content and improve program effectiveness.
- Continuously improve existing training based on feedback, performance data, and operational needs.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Adult Learning, Learning & Development, or a closely related field required. Master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in instructional design, with at least 3 years at a senior or lead level designing and developing learning programs.
- Proven experience designing sequenced, outcome-driven learning for adult professionals (preferably in construction, trades, technical, or safety-regulated environments).
Skills & Abilities
- Advanced proficiency in e-learning development, with primary expertise in Articulate Rise.
- Hands-on experience with video development tools (Camtasia or equivalent) and Canva (or similar design platforms).
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with SMEs in construction field operations and translate field knowledge into clear, usable training.
- Strong skill in writing scripts, building presentations, creating assessments, and developing practical job aids.
- Experience designing courses that include in-person delivery, observational assessment elements, and cohort-based learning.
- Experience packaging complete, consistent branded content suites for multiple delivery methods.
- Advanced LMS administration and content strategy experience, including multi-department content organization and pathway design.
- Ability to contribute to reporting and analysis of learner engagement, completions, and feedback data.
- Clear, concise communication with the ability to turn complex technical, safety, and compliance topics into accessible learning.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
This position operates in a professional office setting, whether on-site or remote. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
