Role Overview: The Specialist, Technical Writer is responsible for creating, developing, and editing operational, instructional, maintenance, and test procedures for various formats, including paper, multimedia, and web-based publications.
Key Responsibilities
Research and translate technical information into user-friendly manuals and digital documents for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Conduct interviews with users and technical staff to gather necessary data.
Document engineering processes, specifications, and maintain digital manuals such as flight and maintenance manuals.
Recommend suitable formats based on technical and customer needs.
Ensure products meet company documentation and quality standards.
Collaborate with engineering stakeholders and customers to capture data and schedule requirements.
Manage and update digital publications using FrameMaker and other tools, ensuring compliance with security clearance requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelorβs Degree with four years of technical writing experience, graduate degree with two years, or eight years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Experience with technical documentation for flight and maintenance manuals preferred.
Strong communication skills and proficiency with MS Office, FrameMaker, and digital publication tools.
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD clearance.
