Technical Writer

12-Month Contract | Vancouver, BC | Hybrid

This is a great opportunity for technical writers who have experience working with engineering information and creating clear, accurate technical manuals and documentation.

Contract Details

• Duration: 12 months
• Pay: $50–54/hr INC or $41–44/hr T4
• Work arrangement: Onsite full-time for the first 2 months for onboarding and training. Starting in month 3, the role will transition to hybrid with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite.

What You'll Be Doing

• Create and update technical documentation, including operating manuals, maintenance manuals and Illustrated Parts Catalogs.
• Turn engineering drawings, specifications and technical information into clear, easy-to-understand documentation.
• Work closely with Engineering, Configuration Management, Project Management, Supply Chain and other teams.
• Review documentation for technical accuracy, consistency and quality.
• Maintain document version control and incorporate approved engineering/configuration changes.
• Create structured documentation that meets applicable defence, customer and quality standards.
• Identify missing technical information and work with the appropriate teams to resolve gaps.
• Support documentation reviews, audits and publication activities.

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of technical writing experience
• Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Engineering, Communications, English or a related field.
• Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and technical data.
• Strong technical writing, editing and document-formatting skills.
• Experience creating structured technical documentation.
• Knowledge of MIL-STD and/or DEF STAN documentation standards is an asset.
• Familiarity with Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) environments is an asset.

Technical Tools

Experience with some of the following would be valuable: MadCap, HICO IPS Suite, R4i, Arbortext, Adobe FrameMaker, Raytheon Eagle, XML editors and Microsoft Office.
