This program provides IT services focused on building, securing, and operating the Department of Veteran Affairs LGY's home loan product-line technology. The contract's purpose is to modernize and sustain critical home loan technology systems that support LGY's delivery of mortgage-related services to program stakeholders, to provide continuous delivery and security integration.
Position Description: SES is seeking a Technical Writer with experience in mortgage and fintech platforms to create clear, accurate, and user-friendly documentation for complex financial systems. This role will focus on translating technical concepts, regulatory requirements, and product functionality into accessible content for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders. The Technical Writer will collaborate with engineering, product, compliance, and business teams to ensure documentation supports operational efficiency, regulatory alignment, and an exceptional user experience.
Create and maintain technical documentation for mortgage and fintech systems (LOS, POS, servicing platforms)
Develop user guides, API documentation, knowledge base articles, and training materials
Translate complex technical and regulatory concepts into clear, concise content
Collaborate with engineers and product managers to document features and system changes
Ensure documentation aligns with regulatory requirements (RESPA, TILA, HMDA, TRID)
Maintain documentation standards, templates, and style guides
Support onboarding and training through structured learning materials
Manage documentation lifecycle, versioning, and updates
Participate in product releases to ensure documentation readiness
Gather feedback to continuously improve documentation quality and usability
Requirements
Education & Experience (must meet one of the following):
Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or related field (or equivalent experience) and 3-5+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in fintech or regulated industries, OR
7 years of experience in technical writing, preferably in fintech or regulated industries
Ability to obtain VA Public Trust Clearance
Strong ability to understand and explain complex technical systems
Experience writing API documentation and developer-facing content
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Adobe writing and editing capabilities
Proficient in Confluence and SharePoint documentation and knowledge base systems
Proficient in Markdown editors and Git/GitHub/GitLab for technical tools and version control
Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to simplify complex information for diverse audiences
Strong collaboration with technical and non-technical stakeholders
