What To Expect
The Lead Technical Writer is a key member of the Enterprise Architecture team, responsible for the documentation of functional strategies, always modelling the Post Office behaviours and demonstrating a Postmaster first mindset.
The Lead Technical Writer Will
- standardise tools and ways of communicating, along with processes
- work closely with service managers, technology leaders and senior stakeholders to resource teams and resolve problems
- promote the discipline of technical writing
- keep up to date with industry changes
They will drive a culture of inclusion, continuous improvement, and high performance across their teams, to drive decision-making across technology.

What Youβll Need To Succeed
The key knowledge, experience and skills required are:
- Significant experience as a Technical Writer within an architecture or technology organisation, supporting large-scale business transformation initiatives.
- Experience documenting complex distributed systems and enterprise platforms.
- Proven ability to work with software engineers, architects, product managers, and operational teams.
- Experience implementing documentation governance frameworks.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear and accessible documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Excellent organisational and information structuring capabilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Passion for documentation excellence and continuous improvement.
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF and modelling standards such as UML.
