Technical Documentation Writer


JOB SUMMARY

The Industrial Gas Turbine Technical Documentation Writer creates, updates, and manages the technical documentation for gas turbine engines and related service engineering. They ensure that complex technical information is accurate, clear, and actionable.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Documentation Maintenance: Create and update Industrial Gas Turbine Manuals.
  • Illustrated Parts Catalog: Translate engineering schematics and CAD drawings into easy-to-read parts catalogs and assembly instructions
  • Technical Writing: Create operating procedures, assembly/disassembly instructions, quality inspections, and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaboration with SMEs: Work closely with product engineering, field services, quality assurance, and project teams to gather and validate information.
  • Content Visualization: Integrate photos, diagrams, and schematics to illustrate parts and assemblies.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure documentation adheres to industry standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Version Control: Manage the documentation lifecycle, including version control, audits, and revision management.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Typical Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or a related field
  • Experience: 5+ years in technical writing, preferably within the energy, aerospace, or industrial machinery sectors. Experience with Operations and Maintenance Manuals is a plus.
  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with gas turbine systems, rotating machinery, thermodynamic cycles, or secondary air systems.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience in documentation handling and related software systems like Adobe FrameMaker, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and document management systems (e.g., Teamcenter).
  • Artificial Intelligence: Experience in AI to create content is a plus.
  • Skills: Exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal/written communication, and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
