Job Title: Technical Writer

Location: Rankin Road, Houston, TX

Working hours: 8 hours per day

Work from office: 3 days

Work from home: 2 days

Duration: 1 month to begin with. If the project is successful, then it will be extended for 6 months.

Job Description

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating and maintaining support material such as

Product Manuals, procedures for O&G tools from Content Management tool. As a member of a

small, dynamic documentation team and an integral part of the enterprise organization within an

agile environment, he or she will make sure that instructional guides and reference manuals are

clear enough for new users and detailed enough for advanced ones.

Essential Responsibilities

Generate technical content from existing documentation and tool manuals of O&G tools

Strategize, Plan and execute content level and description

Collaborate with SME and AMO technicians and suggest Event-based Maintenance (EBM)

strategies instead of Levels of Maintenance (LoM) based on tools usage and repair cycles

Interact with technicians (end-users) and update chunks for improved productivity

Write engaging content from AMO's technician point of view

Requirements

Have proven skills in describing and explaining complex concepts and procedures

Candidate should possess 5-10 years of experience in technical writing

Clear Strategic thinker and team skills are critical

Coordinate with Global teams and attend calls during the off-hours, if needed

Have excellent written/verbal communication skills, particularly in English

Be an excellent team player

Be able to work under pressure and meet all deadlines

Can work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic work environment

Desired Characteristics

Have worked on user documentation, preferably online as well as PDF

Content Management and application development know-how would be a plus

Experience with Content Management modeling tools

Experience with various documentation tools (e.g. Documentum)

General knowledge on agile software development Tools

Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, XML authoring (Arbor text/Madcap Flare

etc.)

Additional Skills

CAD tools such as SolidWorks, etc. Candidate Background and competencies

Education & Experience

BE/B tech or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering

Experience in industrial equipment and systems comprising of Mechanical, Electronics and

Software functionality will be a plus.
