Overview-
The Technical Writer plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, consistent, and governance compliant documentation across ICT infrastructure refresh initiatives, architecture artefacts, and asset management uplift activities. The role supports the ICT Infrastructure Asset Refresh Program and contributes to IT Asset Management uplift. The Technical Writer ensures documentation is standardised, traceable, audit ready, and aligned with enterprise architecture and program governance requirements.
What You Will Do:
• Consolidate, update, create and maintain all types of technical design documentation across multiple program streams.
• Collaborate with architects, Subject matter experts (SMEs), project managers, and asset management specialists to ensure documentation accuracy and completeness.
• Consolidate, update, create and maintain documentation for system design following templated models for conceptual and detailed designs based on input from existing documents and technical/architecture SMEs.
• Translate technical concepts into clear, accessible content for both technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Assist teams to create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for junior staff skills transfer, after hours team reference and to ensure consistency of processes and tasking.
• Produce governance‑compliant technical documentation packs for boards, design authorities, and change forums.
• Apply version control, documentation standards, and metadata requirements for auditability.
Capabilities:
Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge:
• Advanced knowledge and demonstrated experience in technical writing within ICT infrastructure, asset management and operational ICT contexts.
• Ability to standardise and consolidate documentation across multiple and varied operational ICT business units as well as complex programs.
• Demonstrated understanding of ICT architecture artefacts, technical design diagrams, and system configuration documentation.
• Demonstrated proficiency with documentation and diagramming tools such as Microsoft M365, SharePoint and Microsoft Visio.
Behavioural Capabilities:
• Adaptability to changing circumstances and multiple priorities and demands, and resilience while managing a constantly changing environment.
• The ability to build and maintain effective professional relationships using verbal and written communication skills to liaise with a broad group of SME and business stakeholders and work collaboratively to provide high quality service.
• High attention to detail and commitment to documentation quality.
Qualifications:
• Experience with Atlassian JIRA/Confluence would be advantageous.
• Relevant degree, diploma, certificate, vocational or industry certification in relevant technical fields is highly desirable.
• Sound understanding of the ITIL framework or related qualifications would be advantageous.
