We're looking for mechanical engineering specialists to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models. Your deep technical knowledge will directly shape how AI understands and reasons through complex engineering problems — from fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to structural mechanics and beyond.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your graduate-level expertise in a new and impactful domain, working alongside world-leading AI research teams — all on a fully flexible, remote schedule.
Organization: Alignerr
Type: Hourly Contract
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Design Complex Engineering Problems — Craft advanced, multi-domain problems spanning FEA, heat transfer, kinematics, fluid dynamics, and material science that rigorously challenge AI reasoning
Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step technical solutions that serve as benchmarks for AI learning and evaluation
Audit AI-Generated Content — Review and evaluate AI outputs including CAD logic, thermodynamic proofs, and material specifications for technical accuracy, safety, and compliance with engineering standards (e.g., ASME, ISO)
Refine AI Reasoning — Identify logical flaws such as incorrect force distributions, energy conservation violations, or unit errors, and provide structured feedback to improve model performance
Who You Are
Pursuing or holding a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field
Strong foundational expertise in one or more core areas: solid mechanics, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, or manufacturing processes
Able to communicate complex physical concepts and mathematical reasoning clearly in written form
Highly detail-oriented when reviewing derivations, unit conversions, and physical system constraints
No prior AI experience required — if you know engineering, we'll handle the rest
Nice to Have
Experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or technical writing
Proficiency in engineering software such as SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB
Familiarity with AI or language model evaluation workflows
