About the company and the role

Future Snoops is seeking an experienced, curious and creative Materials & Textiles Content Strategist, based in the UK or Europe to join our Materials & Textiles team on a full-time and remote basis. Sitting at the intersection of materials, design, culture and innovation, this role combines hands-on textiles expertise with trend intelligence, research and editorial storytelling.

You will research and analyse the developments shaping the future of textiles and materials, connecting shifts in fabrics, innovation, sustainability and technology with wider cultural and consumer change. Working across women’s, men’s, kids, home and lifestyle, you will translate complex research and emerging signals into clear, compelling and actionable forecasts and content that our clients rely on.

We’re looking for a confident writer and communicator with a strong point of view, an instinct for identifying what matters next, and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. You will bring specialist materials knowledge to the wider forecasting and creative teams and travel to key international trade shows, exhibitions and industry events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and analyse emerging textile and material trends across trade shows, runway collections, industry events and the wider design landscape, connecting developments in fabrics, fibres, finishes, construction, craft and sourcing with broader cultural and consumer shifts.
  • Develop cross-market materials and textiles content spanning women’s, men’s, kids, home and lifestyle, translating research into relevant insights and applications across solid materials, woven and knitted textiles, and non-woven categories.
  • Contribute to seasonal and long-term trend forecasts, from initial research and analysis through to concept development, identifying the signals and shifts that will shape future material and design directions.
  • Research material innovation and sustainability, including next-generation fibres and materials, circular systems, lower-impact processes, manufacturing technologies and evolving sourcing practices.
  • Write and edit engaging, authoritative forecasting content, turning complex information into clear, compelling and commercially relevant narratives for a global audience.
  • Lead and contribute to international trade show and industry event coverage, conducting on-the-ground research and translating key developments into insightful reports and future-facing recommendations.
  • Develop strong visual and written narratives for reports, presentations and forecasts, collaborating with creative and forecasting teams to communicate ideas with clarity and impact.
  • Build and maintain a relevant industry network across mills, manufacturers, suppliers, designers, innovators and researchers, while staying closely connected to new developments, launches and emerging ideas across the sector.
  • Collaborate across teams and markets, bringing materials expertise and a strong point of view to wider forecasting, brainstorming and strategic projects.

Experience

We are looking for someone with 4+ years of relevant professional experience within textiles, fashion, materials, product development, sourcing, trend forecasting or a closely related field.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • A degree in Textiles, Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fashion & Textiles, Material Design or a related discipline.
  • Strong professional experience working directly with fabrics and textiles, ideally through textile or fashion product design, development, sourcing, buying, manufacturing or a related role.
  • Experience working with trend forecasting, trend research, design strategy or future-focused insight, either within a forecasting agency, consultancy, brand, supplier, manufacturer or design-led organisation.
  • A strong understanding of the textile and materials industry and supply chain, from fibre and fabric development through to sourcing, production and finished product.
  • Experience researching and communicating trends across multiple seasons, markets or product categories.
  • Knowledge of sustainability and responsible material development is highly desirable, particularly around innovation, material impact, sourcing, traceability and emerging material technologies.
  • Experience attending and analysing textile, design or fashion trade shows and industry events is preferred.

Skills & Attributes

  • Exceptional copywriting and editorial ability, with a talent for turning complex research into clear, engaging and inspiring trend narratives.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking, with the ability to connect the dots across culture, consumer behaviour, design, innovation, technology and sustainability to identify meaningful emerging shifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication, with the confidence to articulate ideas, develop a strong point of view and contribute to creative and informative discussions.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrics and textiles, paired with a refined visual sensibility and genuine curiosity about new materials, processes and technologies.
  • A curious and resourceful research mindset, with an instinct for finding credible and unexpected sources of information in exploring what might come next.
  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines while taking ownership and working independently with focus and initiative.
  • A collaborative and generous team player, comfortable working across different markets and disciplines and building strong relationships with colleagues and industry contacts.
