About The Role
We're looking for a Technical Writer (TWR) Intern to support our Technical Writer as our product portfolio grows. This role provides hands-on experience in technical documentation while contributing to day-to-day documentation activities, including drafting and updating end-user content, maintaining visuals, reviewing existing documentation, and tracking documentation impacts.
The intern will work closely with the Technical Writer and regularly collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to gather information and identify documentation needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft and update end-user and application instructional documentation under the review and guidance of the Technical Writer.
- Update and maintain screenshots, diagrams, and other visual assets as products and interfaces change.
- Attend relevant product and engineering meetings to capture notes and identify documentation-impacting changes.
- Help maintain and triage the documentation backlog by identifying what has changed, what documentation is affected, and what follow-up is required.
- Review existing documentation for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and outdated content.
- Work with product and engineering stakeholders to gather information and clarify details that are not readily documented.
- Support documentation-related tracking, organization, and maintenance activities as needed.
- Follow established documentation, style, and formatting guidelines consistently.
- Learn and apply technical writing practices within a software development environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
- Interest in technical writing, UX writing, developer documentation, or a related field.
- Interest in software products and the software development lifecycle.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn and dig into unfamiliar product areas.
- Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks and follow them through to completion.
- Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to follow established style and formatting guidelines consistently
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior exposure to writing documentation in Markdown.
- Experience with tools such as Confluence, Jira, or Git.
- Experience with structured writing or content management.
- Basic understanding of software development or product development workflows.
