TTA is seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to support the modernization of a Line Technician Apprenticeship Program. The consultant will work within established processes, templates, and existing course structures to update legacy materials, develop new learning assets, and prepare content for deployment in Cornerstone.
Technical SMEs have already updated much of the underlying content, so the primary focus will be translating that content into polished eLearning, classroom materials, assessments, job aids, graphics, photography, and video.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and update eLearning, classroom materials, assessments, job aids, graphics, and video.
• Translate technical SME content into effective learning materials.
• Develop eLearning using Articulate Storyline and Rise.
• Edit video using Camtasia and support field-based photography/video as needed.
• Collaborate directly with technical SMEs, trainers, apprentices, and field employees.
• Prepare content for deployment in Cornerstone.
• Work within established templates and standards while incorporating stakeholder feedback.
Qualifications & Skills
Must-Haves:
• Strong instructional design experience and ability to work independently after onboarding.
• Strong Articulate 360 skills, including Storyline and Rise.
• eLearning development and Camtasia video editing experience.
• Ability to translate technical SME content into effective learning.
• Experience creating job aids and user documentation.
• Strong Microsoft Word and PowerPoint skills.
• Comfortable working directly with technical SMEs, trainers, and field employees.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build credibility with a practical, field-based trades audience.
• Comfortable with iterative/agile development and established templates and processes.
• Own computer capable of performing the work.
Nice-to-Haves:
• Located in or near Madison, Wisconsin.
• Utility, energy, electrical, line technician, skilled trades, or apprenticeship-program experience.
• Technical/field photography or video experience.
• Experience with Cornerstone, SCORM Cloud, Insta360, Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, ElevenLabs, Snagit, or TechSmith Audiate.

• Remote: Remote candidates may be considered if the right local candidate is not identified
• Ideal Start: Approximately one week before September 10, 2026
• Key Transition Dates: September 10, 11, and 14
• Immediate Priority: Complete 300-series apprenticeship content for a November apprentice class
• Duration: Initially through the end of 2026
• Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week preferred
• Next Major Apprentice Milestone: May 2027
• Required software licenses can be provided if needed.
