As an Information Architect at Pivotree, you design the structural frameworks that organise
product data, content, and metadata into systems that are intuitive to navigate and easy to
maintain at scale. You bridge content strategy, taxonomy design, and technical
implementation, and you apply AI tools to accelerate structural analysis while ensuring every
information architecture genuinely serves how users search and think.
Product data is our immediate need and the core of this role. You will lead the architecture on
client engagements, directing the data specialists who support the work and partnering with
Business Analysts and Solution Architects to turn your designs into working configurations.
As the group expands into other data domains, there will be room to grow with it.
Responsibilities
β Design information architecture for client catalog, content, and data management
solutions: taxonomies, schemas, navigation structures, and metadata frameworks.
β Lead discovery sessions with clients to understand how their users search for and
navigate product information.
β Lead taxonomy, schema, and SKU enrichment efforts, directing the data specialists
who support delivery.
β Apply AI-assisted analysis to identify structural patterns in existing content and
metadata; validate every structural recommendation with domain expertise before
implementation.
β Partner with Business Analysts and Solution Architects to translate information
architecture designs into technical PIM/MDM configurations.
β Use AI tools to accelerate taxonomy and schema documentation; review and validate all
AI-generated structures before client presentation.
β Define content governance standards: naming conventions, attribute definitions, and
metadata quality rules.
β Conduct information architecture audits for existing client systems, identifying
structural gaps, data quality issues, and improvement opportunities.
β Design search and navigation optimisation strategies based on user behaviour and
content structure analysis.
β Collaborate with UX and content teams to ensure information architecture translates
into intuitive user experiences.
β Mentor Business Analysts and Data Analysts on taxonomy and structural design
Principles.
What Good Looks Like
COMPETENCY IN PRACTICE
Analysis Studies how users actually search for and navigate information before proposing a
structure. Uses AI-assisted pattern analysis to accelerate this, but validates every
conclusion with domain expertise.
Customer Orientation Designs information architecture around
how end users think and search, not how the business happens to organise its internal data. Decisiveness Makes clear taxonomy and structural decisions backed by evidence, not endless stakeholder debate.
Organizing Work Manages information architecture design across multiple concurrent client engagements with clear documentation. Working with Others Partners effectively with Business Analysts, Solution Architects, and UX teams, and directs distributed delivery support.
Developing Others Mentors Business Analysts and Data Analysts on taxonomy and structural
design principles. Initiative Identifies structural improvement opportunities proactively during audits and discovery.
AI-First Mindset Uses AI tools to accelerate structural
pattern analysis and taxonomy documentation. Validates every AI-generated information structure with domain expertise before it shapes a client's catalog or content system.
Skills and Competencies
β 8 to 11 years of information architecture, content strategy, or taxonomy design
experience, with a strong foundation in product data.
β Deep understanding of how users search for and navigate structured information.
β Strong client-facing discovery and facilitation skills.
β Uses AI-assisted structural analysis tools to accelerate taxonomy design; validates all
outputs with domain expertise before implementation.
Technical Skills
Taxonomy and metadata design
Expert in structured metadata frameworks for large-scale catalog
and content systems. PIM/MDM platforms
Working knowledge of Stibo STEP, Akeneo, or equivalent for
translating architecture into configuration.
AI-assisted analysis Uses AI tools to identify structural patterns and accelerate
taxonomy documentation; validates all outputs before use.
Search and navigation
Understands search optimisation principles and how information
structure affects findability
