Leads the engineering documentation function by managing product data, documentation processes, and technical records throughout the product lifecycle. This role works cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and operations teams to ensure product structures, bills of materials, drawings, specifications, and engineering changes are accurate, controlled, and properly maintained within PLM and ERP systems. The position also provides leadership and development for the engineering change management and documentation teams while driving process consistency, data integrity, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage the engineering change management and documentation teams, including workload prioritization, performance management, mentoring, and development
Oversee the creation, release, revision, and archival of engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and related technical records
Manage engineering change processes including ECOs, ECNs, deviations, disposition activities, and release coordination
Ensure product data accuracy and consistency across PLM and ERP systems
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, quality, and operations teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and ongoing production activities
Develop, maintain, and improve documentation standards, workflows, procedures, and configuration management practices
Support implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of PLM and ERP systems and related engineering processes
Coordinate cross-functional review and approval workflows for technical documentation and engineering changes
Monitor documentation metrics and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and process compliance
Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation and records comply with company and regulatory requirements
Assist in troubleshooting product data, BOM, and configuration issues impacting manufacturing or supply chain operations
Develop and maintain training materials, work instructions, and best practices related to engineering documentation processes
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process standardization, data governance, and operational efficiency

Education and Experience
Bachelorβs degree (BA/BS) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Technical Management, Business, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Minimum 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience managing a technical or documentation team
Experience working with PLM and ERP systems in a manufacturing environment required
Strong understanding of engineering change management, BOM structures, revision control, and product lifecycle processes
Experience supporting cross-functional engineering and manufacturing operations
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, and related business systems
Experience with Atlassian Jira or similar project management tools preferred
Experience with ISO 9001 or regulated quality systems preferred
