For our client, we are seeking a Developer Relations Manager, Higher Education and Research - Foundational AI to join the team of a leader in the Telecommunications & Hardware space.
This role will serve as a strategic partner to academic AI labs, helping shape how frontier foundational AI research informs platform direction and long-term engagement. You will collaborate closely with researchers and internal product teams to surface technical needs, identify high-impact opportunities, and translate feedback into actionable insights. The position also plays an important external-facing role in strengthening the organization's presence across universities, workshops, and research communities.
Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available
Compensation: $152,000 – $287,500 annually
Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted advisor to academic AI labs on foundational models and systems
- Identify high-impact research opportunities for the company's AI platforms
- Engage and collaborate with researchers to understand technical needs
- Track and analyze frontier AI research trends and their implications
- Partner with internal teams to support long-term researcher engagement
- Translate academic feedback into actionable insights for product development
- Promote the company's presence in AI research through workshops and university partnerships
Qualifications
- PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent research experience
- 5+ years in technology with a focus on software engineering, developer relations, or product management, including 3+ years in AI
- Deep expertise in foundational AI including LLMs, multimodal models, and reasoning methods
- Strong understanding of the AI model development lifecycle from pretraining to deployment
- Hands-on experience with AI research stacks such as PyTorch and distributed training frameworks
- Technical fluency in scalable AI systems and related optimizations
- Proven ability to engage with top academic labs on frontier research challenges
