12 Months Contract
The Technical Writer develops and maintains the technical procedures and work instructions used across the Technical Division. The role makes documentation clear, standardised and aligned with actual ways of working and with regulatory requirements.
Working within the standards set by the Senior Manager Technical Standards & Improvement, the Technical Writer authors and publishes content through the Document Management System and converts legacy documents into structured procedures supported by visual process maps.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Accuracy, clarity and usability of assigned technical documentation.
- Implement Safety Management System (SMS) systems and processes and encourages colleagues to be actively involved in promotion of a positive reporting culture, by reporting any unsafe acts, unsafe conditions or safety risks.
- Familiar with, enforces and follows the procedures stipulated in the Safety and Compliance Monitoring Manual (SCMM) and becomes an active participant in the workplace safety program.
AUTHORITIES
- Coordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to obtain the technical information needed to develop documentation.
- Author and edit assigned documents within the Document Management System.
- Propose updates or corrections to existing procedures and work instructions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain technical procedures and work instructions across the Technical Division.
- Convert legacy documentation into structured procedures supported by visual process maps.
- Author, format and publish technical content in the Document Management System in line with defined standards and templates.
- Ensure documentation complies with the Technical Divisionβs documentation standards and templates.
- Work with SMEs to capture technical knowledge and operational procedures.
- Document mapped and re-engineered processes produced by the Technical Process Engineer and process champions.
- Ensure documentation reflects approved operational practices and regulatory requirements.
- Support the periodic review and update of technical documentation.
- Keep documentation clear, concise and accessible to operational teams.
- Update documentation following operational changes or process improvements.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of technical documentation principles and structured authoring.
- Basic understanding of airline engineering or maintenance operations.
- Familiarity with document management systems and digital publishing of technical content.
Skills
- Technical writing and documentation skills.
- Ability to turn technical input into clear procedures and visual process maps.
- High standard of computer literacy including Microsoft Office applications.
Training
- Safety Management System (SMS) training.
- Human Factors training.
Experience
Minimum 3 yearsβ experience producing technical documentation in aviation or engineering environments
Key Documentation Deliverables
The selected Aviation Technical Writer will support the development, review, revision, standardization, and regulatory compliance of aviation operational and technical documentation, including but not limited to:
- Continuing Airworthiness Management Exposition (CAME)
- Joint Procedures Manual (CAMO & Part-145)
- Mass & Balance System Documentation (Weighing Reports, Load Sheets and Trim Sheets)
- Dangerous Goods Procedures
- Minimum Equipment List (MEL)
- Ground Operations Manual (GOM)
- Dispatch Manual (including Dispatcher Training Material)
- Dangerous Goods Emergency Response Guide
Candidates with previous experience developing, maintaining, updating, or reviewing any of the above manuals within an Airline, CAMO, Part-145, MRO, Flight Operations, Ground Operations, Compliance, Safety, or Airworthiness environment will be highly preferred.
